ClubMazda3 Fun Run

Wake up call! 5am Saturday 10th of May 2008, time to celebrate the 1st Anniversary of my car club, Clubmazda3 Philippines! A celebration which promises to be bigger and better than the previous celebration.Everyday wake up, time for our 1st AnniversaryFUNRUN to Penininsula de Punta Fuego in Batangas.

Start off point was at the Petron Mega Gas Stationat the South Superhighway at exactly 6:00a.m.. I arrived around 6:45a.m., mainly due to the ongoing repairs from Alabang thru the main highway. Petron, being the ever supportive sponsor, allocated a portion of the station where the CM3 group can park in preparation for the Start-Off point.

It was exciting to see a bunch of Mazda3 cars grouped together in all their magnificent glory for all the people to see. By the time we were about to start, there were 20 Mazda3 cars lined up and raring to zoom zoom zoom.

We took off around 8:30 am all 20 cars lined up occupying one single lane in the highway. Being the Lead Car of the FUNRUN, I had the responsibility of ensuring we move at an agreed upon speed, that no one is left out, that we reach our destination safe and sound.

Upon reaching Sta Rosa exit, it was about 10am already due to the heavy traffic. We then proceeded to trek the long and winding road to Tagaytay City where we had a stop-ever at a Shell Gas Station (which I guess irritated the attendants since all the the M3 cars where adorned by Petron Stickers… heheh).

An hour and a half away from our destination, as we were cruising to the final stretch of our FUNRUN, I received a call from one of the core members (Jervis) and lo and behold, was left 5 kilometers away due to some malfunction. Not a good thing when you’re the Lead Car (refer to paragraph 4).

But just like entering a war, there is always collateral damage. So instead of everybody sulking, we decided to proceed to our destination (2 cars left and assisted our compadre). Was at Nasugbu at around 11:30am and even got lost looking for the one restaurant the can accommodate our group.

Proceed right after lunch and got ourselves into the real test, driving thru steep mountain ranges of Nasugbu. Up and down the side of the mountains was certainly fun but I guess not for our cars. It was 2pm that I was able to see the path leading to the gate of our destination, Peninsula de Punta Fuego.

As with previous visits to the place, I still enjoy the serene atmosphere that is purely Punta Fuego. The rest house we rented was sitting atop the side of the mountain where you have a magnificent view of the cove which gives a very relaxing ambiance perfect for stressed out people like us.

Upon arrival, we listened to Petron Philippines representative Mr. Francis Carino who spoke about Petron and its products, fuel saving tips, and anything you need to know about fuel, whey! Then, the real fun started!

Grouped the members into 5 and started off with our CM3 Pinoy Genio Contest. A game where 1 member’s forehead was used to paste a post-it with corresponding words which he needs to guess by asking questions answerable
only with yes and no, quite confusing but a hilarious parlor game. 2nd game was CM3’s Amazing Race where groups of 5 were given clues to find the next clue to find the final clue and declared the champion team. Was quite amazed by the enthusiasm shown by the members to find the clues prepared by Mr. John Chica and Aries
De Leon. The game had the members scramble around the house, into the streets, the bushes and finally the beach where the final clue was hidden, in the deep blue sea. Behold, a declaration of Girl-Power, a lady member by the name of Joanne won the event along with her teammates.

While the guys were having fun (swimming and trading insults at each other), I was busy entertaining losing participants and likewise assisting (in my small ways) Liz Tan in the kitchen in preparation for dinner. Well actually we only needed to cook rice (and corned beef) since most of the food was catered and brought straight to fuego.

After dinner we had a brief introduction of the club members then proceeded to our poker championship. It has been a regular thing for the members to rob each other’s hard earned dinero by playing poker, a good excuse ey?

Surprised, Jervis from earlier car malfunction incident arrived, was actually wondering if he walked all the way to fuego? Hmm, lady-luck left and lost out eventually to 2 New Champions by the name of myk n vios heheh. Exhausted, the guys littered the whole house without any shame. Some sleeping on the floor, the sofa, the garden not knowing there was such a thing called bedroom. Kidding guys!

Woke up still dazed went straight to the beach and took a bunch of pictures to catch up lost beach time the previous day. Got out around 11:00 am and prepared for our trek back home. Went straight to Tagaytay and ate a bunch of lunch full of fatty beef soup we locals call bulalo.

And as we were saying our sayonaras, we decided to make one last hirit, go to this place where you can buy the soon to be mega popular buco tart. Actually, was my 1st time to seriously taste this sinful delight and was immediately converted into an instant fan of this little store.

We then finally said our arrivederci and congratulations for another successful event for Clubmazd3 Philippines.

Special thank you to our sponsors for Clubmazda3’ s 1st Anniversary Funrun!
